Design Miami Art Basel 2018 has been wrapped up and we couldn’t foresee a finer closure. Not only the impressions left from this grand event were more than satisfying to its organizers, but also the inspiration people got was infinite.
If anything, we have to admit that the console tables stole the show and given that, we gathered here for you some highly peculiar pieces that exceeded the expectations.
Kelly Console – Christopher Stuart – The Perfect Future Gallery
Christopher Stuart’s Kelly Console is an exercise in elemental elegance. Using the motif of rounded circles, the piece was created in hot dipped galvanized steel, with a mesmerizing silhouette that references the artists immersion in minimalism, conceptualism and constructivism.
Héron Console – Alex Roskin – Todd Merrill Studio
Roskin’s Heron Console reflects the artist’s modernist and primitive influences. With Heron console table, Roskin rejects outright anthropomorphic mimicry in favor of subtle, a sculpted muscular forms and sinuous movement. Inspired by innovative designers, Alex Roskin’s works blend functional and artistic design.

Melting Console Table – Zhipeng Tan – Gallery ALL
The forms designed by Tan vary from being environmental (water drops, tree roots) to being figurative (spinal cords, pelvic structures). The Melting Console, exhibited in Design Miami 2018, belongs to the Lotus collection and brings together the botanical and human motifs most explicitly. The tension between the two references cause the works to become abstracted and take on a slightly surreal quality, whilst maintaining functionality.
Lebreton Console Table – Jules Wabbes – Lebreton Gallery
The console table chosen for the Art Basel Miami 2018 by Jules Wabbes is made from wenge wood, bronze and marble and combines contemporary with nature elements into a unique piece of furniture, suitable for any interior space.
Gravier Console – Rudy Rucciotti – Philippe Gravier Gallery
The Gravier Console in Design Miami is part of the “Elements of Architecture”, by Galerie Philippe Gravier, which are produced more as sculptures than as design, and demonstrate each architect’s signature style and excellence.
